Ramzey’s “Big Ideas” Innovation Series
“If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.” – Henry Ford
If there was a common theme across all of the areas of The Grounds, it would be that of constant innovation. It’s the foundation for everything we do, and will ever do.
A big part of innovating is practicing what we preach. Anyone can claim to innovate, but we have shown time and again through our spaces and unique concepts that we really do follow through. To really live this approach, I have spent the past five years going “all in” – travelling the world to study and listen to some of the planet’s top innovators. I’m talking about the likes of Edward de Bono in Chicago (on lateral thinking and ideas), Michael Michalko (author of Thinkertoys), Karen Post (branding), Martin Linstrom (branding) and Dr John Demartini (human behaviour).
The reason I drop these names is not to try and impress you. It’s to illustrate that I really believe that one must go deeper than catchphrases to explore the fundamentals of ideas and innovation – how they affect spaces and people. In a retail space, this adds another level again.
Being innovative is something we strive for. Why? Because it’s something that’s vital when you’re creating the most memorable venues that the world has ever seen.
Over the coming seven weeks, I will share with you different aspects of innovation – and how I have applied “big ideas” to what we do every day at The Grounds. I hope you’ll come along for the ride!
