This October, we’re creating a desert oasis perched atop Marks Park, Tamarama for the 20th annual Sculpture by the Sea exhibition. Inspired by design and architecture from their recent trip to America’s South West, Co-Founder, Ramzey Choker, and Head Stylist, Therese Moussa, have designed this year’s seaside escape to be in the form of a desert inspired hacienda with an abundance of succulents and cacti.

With a limited edition menu created by Group Executive Chef, Paul McGrath, designed to offer something for everyone, there’s every reason to drop in and stay a while.

Sculpture by the Sea sees the 2km coastal walk from Bondi to Tamarama transformed into the world’s largest free annual outdoor sculpture exhibition for two and a half weeks.

Dates: Thursday 20th October – Monday 7th November
Opening Hours: 7am – 7pm, every day (Breakfast available 7am-11:30am, Lunch available 11:30am-7pm)

Countdown: Watch The Grounds by the Sea come to life

1 day to go…
There’s only one day until the 2016 The Grounds by the Sea officially opens and it’s all hands on deck. The clock is ticking as the team work to floral the roof, plant an abundance of cacti and gear up a kitchen ready to serve our guests from tomorrow!

4 days to go…
It took one very large truck, a crane, an ‘oversize load’ escort, some careful steering through the windy coastal roads of Tamarama, a small army of men and ALL night but The Grounds by the Sea house is back.

7 days to go…
Go behind the scenes with Therese Moussa, The Grounds Head Stylist, as she works with the team at Porter’s Paints to select the colours and textures for the desert themed house.

2 days to go…
Despite a few rain clouds over Bondi, our horticulturalist has his moment to shine with an abundance succulents including agave and cacti, and seaside daisies he’s be growing to create a floral roof on the house. It’s really starting to feel like the desert.

5 days to go…
The house is starting to take shape as The Grounds Co-Founder, Ramzey Choker, works with his team and one very cuddly little dachshund to transform the house into something magical.

8 days to go…
The ‘Hobbit’ house is out, and an Arizona inspired abode is in. The Grounds team are stripping last year’s house and bringing it back to it’s foundations to make way for the refurbishments.

3 days to go…
The Grounds by the Sea house is in, the walls are up, and it’s time to give it a fresh coat of paint with interesting techniques and textures. There are rich coral and salmon shades adorning the house, with a contrast of vibrant greens inside.

6 days to go…
The Grounds Head Stylist, Therese Moussa, reveals a little more of the design puzzle. Follow her around as she gathers tiles with a variety of patterns and colours to bring the house to life with trim accents.
