How in advance do I need to order?
To ensure we’re able to fulfil your order, order cut off time is 1pm, the day before your specified pick up date. If you’re hoping for something more urgently, please email us as our pastry team will always endeavour to do their best to organise something for you.
How do I collect my cake?
Our cakes are available for pick-up 7 days per week from within The Grounds of Alexandria Cafe – located at 7a/2 Huntley St, Alexandria. Please ask the host on arrival.
Can I personalise my cake with a message?
We offer shortbread plaques for personalisation with all of our cakes. Simply tick the box and write your message prior to adding the cake to your cart.
Can I alter the ingredients to accommodate dietary requirements?
We recognise that many people have sensitivities to some foods and can work with you to ensure that your cake is be enjoyed by everyone coming to your event. If you require something catered specifically toward certain dietary requirements, please email us your request and we’ll do our best to create something special for you.
Please note our Bakery & Patisserie is not completely allergen-free. Our standard cakes include fresh eggs, milk and other allergen products, and these are baked and made in the same kitchen as our allergen-free products. We take great care in our food preparation so we can offer a range of cakes and pastry items free of nuts, eggs, dairy products and gluten to satisfy people with food sensitivities. However, as with all allergens, the possibility of trace elements cannot be excluded.
Can I create a bespoke cake?
If you’re hoping for a Grounds style cake but can’t find the perfect match in our current offering, please email us your request. We’ll work with our pastry team to see what we can do to bring it to life for you.
Can I order a cake for a dine-in reservation in The Cafe or The Potting Shed?
Absolutely – we love celebrating birthdays and special occasions at The Grounds! Simply indicate your reservation details in the ‘additional notes’ section when you select your cake and let your waiter know on arrival.
Can I change my order once I’ve checked out?
Yes, we can change any order with 1 business days notice. Simply email us your order confirmation number and the changes required, and we will confirm your updated order information via email. Please note our office hours are Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm. For changes to weekend or Monday orders, please ensure changes are confirmed with our team by Friday.
What is your cancellation/refund policy?

Do I need to contact your team if I’m running late to collect my order?
The time selected at check-out is the earliest time on your date of choice that your cake will be available for pick up. If you’re running late, there’s no need to let us know. We’ll happily store your cake for collection until 3:45pm each day within The Cafe. If you require your cake at an earlier time, please email us with 1 business days notice. Please note our office hours are Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm. For changes to weekend or Monday orders, please ensure changes are confirmed with our team by Friday.
When it comes to the care of your cake, it’s always best to ask us if you’re unsure. If in doubt, we’d be happy for you to email our team directly as we want to ensure you have the best cake experience as possible.
Will my cake require refrigeration?
Yes, all of our cakes do require refrigeration. They can be removed from the fridge up to 1 hour prior to serving. Please be mindful of the room temperature the cake is left out at, for example a hot summer’s day.
How long can my cake be transported for?
Without refrigeration, our cakes are transportable for up to 1 hour. Please be mindful of cakes that include custards and creams (such as our fruit tarts and sponge cakes), as they require more care than our firmer cakes (such as the Banana Cake).
Will my cake keep well if I collect it the day before my event?
It will! All of our cakes can be eaten 24 – 48 hours after pick up. Please ensure you care for your cake and are mindful of not removing it from the fridge for more than an hour at a time.
